Take your time and explore Belize more thoroughly
Designed for anyone who would like to take their time
getting to know Belize or to consider investing or
retiring here, to escape a cold winter elsewhere, or
just to explore a fascinating country

Orchid
Garden Eco-Village
is centrally located in Belize. From this tranquil, secure and
beautiful home base, some fourteen miles outside Belize
City, you can experience the mystery and beauty of Belize in
many different ways: go cave tubing, zip line through the
tropical rainforest canopy, visit the extraordinary Belize Zoo,
or the capital city of Belmopan, the Old Belize Museum with its
private beach, or Belize City - all within a half hour drive. A
little further, and you'll be at the Baboon Sanctuary or the
Crooked Tree Nature Reserve (285 species of bird at the last
count). A little further still and you can cruise the New River
to the Mayan temples at Lamanai. Public Buses stop in front of
our Eco-Village every half hour or so, and are incredibly
cheap. Alternatively, private transport may be easily arranged
to suit your particular needs.
Join
this program,
you can travel lightly, leaving your heavy baggage safely in
your home base. Your room at the Orchid Garden remains yours

knowing that if you decide to cut short your stay in any other
Belize location, you can always come home to us here.
Our

with en suite bathrooms. Experience the lush beauty of the

On the way to cave tubing, you will hike through
the rainforest jungle, finding out about the
fauna and flora, including herbs used for
medicinal purposes by the ancient Maya.
On reaching the cave branch river you will climb
into an inner tube and float through a tunnel
into a system of caves.
This is without doubt one of the most
sensational tours in Belize. |

Lamanai Maya Ruin |
 |
|
Travel
by boat along the New River and witness the same
flora and fauna ancient Mayan traders observed
on the way to the ancient city of Lamanai .
Lamanai,
which means "submerged crocodile," is now off
our beaten track - yet it thrived for over 3000
years
Lamanai
is also a botanical and wildlife reserve, with
many exotic native bird, and plants that are
used for both medicinal and commercial purposes.
Most
trees are labeled along the trails for easy
identification

Cucumber Beach: this little bay has various
activities to choose from. On the beach you can
dip into the Caribbean Sea, lounge under one of
its palapas or a coconut tree with your favorite
drink, or bask in the sun for a bit. |
