If this is the first time you
or your group has been to Belize, be sure to include a
number of the most popular traveler attractions in Belize in
your itinerary. We invite you to consider:
The awesome Actun Tunichil
Muknal Expedition: to explore the Cave of the Crystal
Maiden. You will hike through the rainforest, fording the
creek three times to reach the entrance of the cave; you
will swim a short distance in (there is no other way), and
follow the path of the water at varying depths for half a
mile underground, until you come to the point where you
climb to a platform high above the water. Here lie hundreds
of ninth century Mayan pots, and the calcite encrusted
remains of 14 human beings, probably sacrificed to the rain
god Chac more than a thousand years ago. It is an amazing,
and fairly strenuous, trip which is arguably not for
everyone; but those who have done it unhesitatingly name it
the best thing they did in Belize.
Cruise the New River
from Orange Walk to Lamanai, enjoying abundant
wildlife on the way, and explore the impressive ruins of an
ancient Mayan City.
Snorkel
with nursing sharks & eagle
rays on your way to the spectacular Hol Chan Marine
Reserve, where you will marvel at the variety of marine
life on the barrier reef. You will have an option to stay
on one of the Cayes, or you can easily do this trip in one
day from and back to the Orchid Garden.
Visit the unique Belize Zoo,
for a close encounter with a large number of Belizean
animals, rescued from stressful conditions; and the
Baboon Sanctuary, for an interesting nature walk, and a
particularly close encounter with a troupe of howler
monkeys.
If you have enough time,
include Flores City in Guatemala &Tikal, the largest
Ancient Mayan city yet to be uncovered, and well worth your
trip.
After all your adventures, why
not spend a few days on one of the Cayes for relaxation
before finally returning home?
