2 Nights Eco-Village + Wildlife New River Cruise and Lamanai

The 3 day Belize Adventurer: This tour, offers a wonderful introduction over 2 nights and 3 days to the beauty and cultural heritage of Belize.

Based at the tranquil Orchid Garden Eco-Village, this tour provides an exciting opportunity to experience a little of what defines Belize. From the tropical rainforest with its enigmatic rivers to Maya temples and abundant wildlife, this tour offers an excellent glimpse of what Belize has to offer.

Day 1: Upon your arrival at either the International or Municipal airport or the Belize City Water Taxi or Bus terminal, you’ll be met and driven the short distance to the Orchid Garden Eco-Village.

Here, you can relax, enjoy a complimentary fresh fruit juice and perhaps choose one of the on-site tours from the 3 we have available.

• Nature and Culture: This guided tour explains some of the green building principles incorporated around the Orchid Garden property and highlights other interesting areas such as the Birding courtyard and the Savannah nature trail. It also includes the Orchid Garden museum which showcases exhibits in 3 categories: ‘Belizean history in Bottles’, ‘The Expression of Belize’ painting collection, and ‘Nature’s Artistry in Root and Stone’

• Night-time Jungle Walk: This guided walk follows the Savannah nature trail, through to the lowland rainforest and onto the Hector Creek riverine eco-system in the hope of seeing some local wildlife.  In many cases, animals in Belize rest during the heat of the day and become more active in the cooler evenings after dark.

• Early Morning Savannah Birding: Up to 40 species of birds have been documented over a 4 day period at Orchid Garden including several species of Hummingbird and Woodpecker. Many of the green building principles encourage the variety that can be found with the early morning being a particularly good time for sightings.

Later in the evening – and every evening of your tour - you can look forward to a delicious Belizean-inspired dinner in our acclaimed jungle restaurant, followed by a good night’s sleep in your comfortable accommodation.

Day 2: Today begins with coffee, juice and a tasty breakfast to help prepare you for your full day tour.

There are 3 tour options to choose from. 

• The 1st tour option is a visit to the Lamanai Maya ruins.

The New River Wildlife Cruise to Lamanai:  This important Maya complex is accessed via a serene 26 mile journey along the New River through dense jungle. The word Lamanai means ‘submerged crocodile’ and these creatures along with an abundance of other wildlife can often be seen en route. At the site, your guide will lead you on a tour of the museum and the site itself.

• The 2nd tour option comprises of 2 parts.

• The 1st part is a choice between:  

• Zip-Line canopy tour: This exciting excursion offers a unique perspective as you soar along steel cables 80 feet above the ground. You’ll be escorted by a guide, in front and behind, as you enjoy a bird’s eye view of the surrounding rainforest.

• The Belize Zoo: Often described as the ‘best little zoo in the world’, the zoo has over 150 animals from 45 species all of which are native to Belize. In fact, many of the animals were orphaned, rescued or born at the zoo and together offer a wonderful insight into the wildlife of Belize.  

• The 2nd part of this tour is Tubing on the Caves Branch River.  
• Cave Tubing: The. For those unfamiliar with Tubing, it’s both a fun and exciting and basically involves floating down a river while sat in an inflated tire inner tube! As an added bonus, this particular stretch of river also happens to flow through an impressive underground cave system strewn with impressive stalactites and stalagmites.  

• The 3rd tour option comprises of 3 parts.  

• Xunantunich Tour: This impressive Maya complex close to Belize’s Western border can only be reached by hand-cranked ferry across the Mopan River. It consists of a variety of structures the tallest of which ‘El Castillo’ is 130 feet above ground. Your guide will explain the history of the site and take you through the nearby museum.  

• Culture of Cayo Tour: This tour focuses on the diversity of Belize’s Cayo district and includes a visit to a Maya Village, a Mestizo town, a Mennonite settlement and a traditional produce market  

• The 3rd part of this tour offers a choice between:  

• Butterfly Farm Visit: Learn about the Butterfly life cycle and see the various stages

• Inland Sinkhole Swimming: Relax and enjoy the clear refreshing water of a natural inland swimming hole

Day 3: For the last day of your 3 day Belize Adventurer tour, we’ll make sure you have one of our tasty breakfasts a final time and whenever you’re ready, we’ll transfer you to your onward connection at either of the airports or transport terminals in Belize City.
