My wife and I recently retired, sold up in the UK and decided to come to Belize. We found the Orchid Garden's website and booked their 28 day TryBelize package - to give ourselves time to find our feet and somewhere to rent while our cabana was being built in a jungle reserve outside San Ignacio.
The Orchid Garden Eco-Village is amazing value for money. The rooms are clean and spacious, with air-conditioning, two double beds and an en suite bathroom. The grounds are stunning, with a butterfly corridor, iguana sanctuary and an amazing variety of birds in lush tropical gardens. The food is really excellent - they make their own bread, yoghurt and an iced tea made from home-grown hibiscus flowers pi
cked daily.
The trips are well organised, reasonably priced and great fun - cave tubing, ziplining, snorkeling on the barrier reef, exploring Myan ruins - the list goes on and on.
We've loved it so much we're still here, 3 months later!! We don't think there's better value in Belize!
Quiet & relaxing destination

We stayed at the Orchid Garden the night before our departure from Belize. It was an excellent choice due to airport pick-up and delivery at no extra charge. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and attentive. We loved Alfredo, he was an excellent guide and had a passion for the ecology of the region. While the bedroom was well maintained and clean, it was also somewhat dated. Overall, a good experience and we would recommend it to others looking for a great first or last night destination in Belize.
We were truly spoiled

When planning our trip to Belize we were interested in fun, adventure, excitement, and some fun in the sun. Never having been to Belize we didnt know where to begin. We contacted Jason and he put together a week of just what we were looking for! It was really like 3 trips in one! We had adventures in Belize with cave tubing, Zip Lining, Kayaking, horseback riding, learning about the Mennonites and the country of Belize..... Additionally we had time in Guatemala exploring Tikal and the city of Flores..... and finally 2 wonderful relaxing days on the Belize Island of San Pedro snorkeling and relaxing in the sun. Every step of the way Christine and her staff we amazing..... catering to our every need. Making wonderful meals, adjusting schedules as needed... Alfredo and Alvero were more then drivers to us - they were our personal tour guides and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived at the airport
Inspired & elegant eco-tourism operation!

Orchid Garden is located within a convenient distance to both Belize City and the International Airport yet it is a haven of tranquility amid the hum of international travel and the commercial activity of Belize City. I highly recommend several nights of decompression here upon arriving or departure from Belize. The rooms are comfortable and air-conditioned and the food is an intriguing Asian-Belizean fusion, always prepared with fresh ingredients in an immaculately clean kitchen.
The best in personal service

Recently I spent four days/three nights at the Orchid Garden after a week volunteering in Belize City. I highly recommend it if you want to see and do as much as you can in a few days there. I have never stayed at a lodge, or B&B for that matter, where the owner(s) took more of a personal interest in seeing that I got to do the things I was most interested in. In addition Alfredo was a terrific driver and guide for all my/our activities. Based on my limited experience (three other couples there) I would say that the Orchid Garden attracts the type of guests I enjoy being with - friendly, positive, interested in the culture and adventuresome. The location outside the city is relaxing, and the surrounding flora offer wonderful photographic opportunities.
