Orchid Garden Eco-Village Mission Statement
A Living Harmony We believe that eco-sustainability of the world will provide a foundation for the self-sustainability of individual life; Nature feeds our body, culture sustains our soul. Economic activities distribute the resources of nature and culture which promote individual sustainability. Self-sustainability, of body and of soul, is an essential element of human life. Without it, life is not complete. Lifelong learning feeds our soul and sustains our ability to work: it is the foundation stone on which self-sustainability is built. World harmony can only be achieved by developing a worldwide respect for the diversity of people and their cultures. Keeping a careful balance between economic development and its environmental impact is the key for the sustainability of nature. Therefore, lifelong learning, respect for others, and care of the environment are the three key values in the development of a living harmony: sustaining body and soul, and the world in which we live. Our work aims at presenting a workshop model that can be used as an educational tool to reflect the philosophical aspects of Eco-sustainability. This and other TROPECOSE programs effectively complement the efforts to use vacation as a means for developing a new generation of citizens with a life-long commitment to sustainability in their communities and beyond
