Tropical Eco-Learning at your Door-Step

Relaxation with Eco-Learning
13-06-2008

Tikal & Belize

This 14 day TROPECOSE Package Tour is designed for students engaged in studies relating to food, culture, ecology and eco-sustainability in a tropical context.  It therefore caters for. a wide range of people: anyone looking for a holiday where they can mix periods of relaxation with lots to do and different places to go, families with teenage children, nature lovers, researchers, writers, people who are interested in retiring, relocating or investing in Tropical Belize.  These 14 days will give you wide ranging experiences across the different habitats of Belize and into Guatemala.

The package enables you to experience 4 different locations: Belize Inland, the Cayes, Placencia and Tikal in Guatemala. The tour activities include tubing through a cave system, zip-lining through the tropical rainforest canopy, snorkeling over the coral reef at the Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark/Ray Alley, cruising at the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary (where 285 species of bird have so far been sighted), and hunting green iguanas and epiphytes (but only with a camera and binoculars!).  These tours will let you be as active or as relaxed as YOU want to be (nobody will force you to climb to the top of a Mayan pyramid, or to snorkel with nursing sharks if you don¡¦t want to!)

In order to appreciate the beauty and biodiversity of this region, you will get the chance to observe a number of different eco systems: tropical rainforest, savannah, cave branch, river, creek, remote lagoon, riverine borderlands and coral reef habitats.

You will also experience the diversity of regional cultures by visiting their built environments: Flores City in Guatemala, the old capital Belize City and the new capital Belmopan.  You will visit the Mestizo Town of San Ignacio, and travel along the Hummingbird Highway (perhaps the most beautiful route in Belize) to the Garifuna town of Dangriga, where you will find the Gulisi Garifuna Museum.  You will learn the origins of the Garifuna people, their history and customs.

There will be an opportunity to look at popular, multicultural retirement locations such as Placencia, Hopkins, Caye Caulker or San Pedro Town.

Many guests comment on the excellence of our food.  We offer meticulously prepared meals that are a delicious mixture of Creole, Garifuna , Mayan, Mestizo and Taiwanese dishes.  We pride ourselves on using organically grown fruit and vegetables whenever possible.  Our food contains no chemicals or preservatives whatsoever, and we make our own bread, yoghurt and flower tea.  Vegetarians are especially welcome, and are well catered for.

The Orchid Garden Eco-Village is centrally located.  From this tranquil, secure and beautiful home base some fourteen miles from Belize City, you just need to pack lightly to visit other locations, such as Caye Caulker or San Pedro, Placencia and Tikal, knowing that your other possessions are perfectly safe in your room at the Orchid Garden.

Joining our program means enjoying quality experiences that normally carry a significantly higher price tag.  Relax comfortably in our clean and spacious rooms with A/C and en suite bathrooms.  Guests also often comment on the peace and tranquility of our private village, with its tropical gardens and wonderful birds and butterflies. Experience the lush beauty of the tropics right outside your door!

This 14 Day Programme comes with a certificate which is available on request. It is a great combination of adventure and relaxation, with an opportunity to think and talk about the challenges and rewards of Eco-Sustainability.  For a life-enhancing holiday at affordable prices, this TROPECOSE Program is hard to beat!
